FAQ

For all those Frequently Asked Questions.

Do I have to be a member of Girls Gun Club to participate in an event?

No. You do not have to be a member to participate. You can just come out and shoot with us at our regularly scheduled shooting events. But there are some perks to being a member. Members get discounts on firearms training courses, discounts on gun repair and custom gunsmithing, and a free Girls Gun Club hat! Visit our "Membership" page for information on becoming a GGC member.

You are welcome to bring a male friend or relative to our regularly scheduled “Bring a Guy” events. But he must be registered as your guest to participate, and he must be a safe shooter. We are trying to create a female-friendly environment, and the presence of a male shooter may intimidate some of our female shooters--especially those new to shooting. So, we limit the days that men can attend our GGC events. In addition, we can always arrange for your male friend or relative to join a co-ed firearms course on the same day as a GGC event and on the same range. He just won't be with "The Girls". That way you can drive out together, share the shooting experience, and take some great photos together. Just contact us and we’ll tell you which courses are available to him.

Can I bring a man with me?

Can a minor shoot at a Girls Gun Club event?

Yes, PROVIDED that (1) the minor is a female over the age of 12; (2) the mother or female legal guardian of the minor is also participating in the event; (3) the minor is able to follow instructions; and, (4) the minor already knows how to safely operate a handgun. If the minor does not yet know how to safely operate a handgun, please ask us about private lessons. Most minors cannot take our Basic Firearms Safety Course, since they generally require one-on-one attention.

While we provide the basics of safe gun handling, coach our shooters to increase their skills, and strictly enforce safety on our range, we do NOT teach shooting to beginners at our Girls Gun Club events. To do so would slow down the pacing of our events and create an unsafe environment for our members. All inexperienced shooters are required to take a Basic Firearms Safety Class prior to attending their first GGC event. You may take a BFSC at any gun range. You do not need to take a BFSC from us. But, as a convenience to our members and their guests (both female and male), we offer a BFSC prior to each GGC event. Please go to the “Lessons” page of this website for more information about our BFSC.

What if I have never shot a gun before?

What does it cost to participate in a Girls Gun Club event?

Although our GGC instructors volunteer their time, we charge a fee for participating in our events. This fee is necessary to pay for the upkeep of guns, range maintenance, targets, and other range supplies. Most GGC events cost $40 per person. This fee includes coaching, use of the range, targets, safety equipment, and use of guns. This fee does NOT include ammunition. You will be required to pay for however much ammunition you shoot. On average, you can expect to shoot about $20-$30 in ammo during a GGC shooting event (assuming 9mm). If you are shooting your own guns, you are encouraged to bring your own ammunition.

No. You do NOT need to own a gun to participate in our GGC events. All equipment rental is included in the event fee (gun, holster, magazines, magazine pouch, eye protection, and ear protection). Ammunition is NOT included, as stated above. All of our guns are state-of-the art weapons. They are kept clean and well maintained. And we never charge for the use of them!

If I am bringing my own gun can I shoot my own ammo?

Yes, but be sure to bring enough. One hundred rounds should be sufficient. At some events we will shoot less. But that’s a safe bet. If you run out, we always have extra 9mm ammunition on the range. You would just pay for however much you shoot. Other calibers may or may not be available, so it’s best to check with us before heading out.

No. We provide all safety equipment at no additional cost. But, if you have your own eye and ear protection, please bring it.

Will I be drawing my gun from a holster?

Yes. We believe that drawing from a holster is the safest way to learn to shoot and also an essential skill to have. But, don’t worry; we will lend you a holster at no additional cost. Just be sure to tell us what gun you’ll be shooting, so we can bring a holster that fits it. If you’ve never drawn from a holster, you will want to consider taking our Basic Firearms Safety Course prior to your first GGC event. You are not required to, but you will probably feel more comfortable if you do.
